Human Behavior

PEEC is a pioneer in the study of energy efficiency and behavior. Our researchers quantify the impact of different motivational approaches, identify barriers to behavior change and how to overcome them, and develop some technologies that enable people to use energy more wisely. Examples of recent work include: developing an educational program for adolescents, using neuroimaging to identify decision-making patterns among buyers of appliances, and helping utilities to deliver more effective information about saving electricity and natural gas.
